General update on 2025 show

Updated: Dec 8, 2024

There has been speculation for several years regarding the future of the Dewars Centre, and therefore of the future of the Show.

The 2025 Show is confirmed as taking place, as usual, in the Dewars Centre, and we are further assured that the location will be secure for the next few years at least. However, Perth & Kinross Council/ Live Active have now converted Hall 2, the indoor bowling hall, into a gym. This means that the Show will have to be reduced in footprint to its original size in the Dewars Centre, and be confined to Hall 1, the ice rink.

Your organising team is confident that we can fit all of the traders and exhibitors who usually attend into this space. It may be that we are unable to give clubs and traders the full allocation of table space that they request, but we will do our very best to keep everyone happy. It is advisable this year to make your bookings at the earliest opportunity in order to avoid any disappointment.

COMPETITION UPDATE

We will also be moving the competition from Hall 2 into the upstairs gallery overlooking the ice rink. Entrants will have to access this area either via the stairs, or by lift. This has necessitated a rethink of the size of the competition, as this area only has space for half the number of tables allocated to the competition in recent years. The Competition Secretary has also taken this opportunity to revise the number of classes, largely due to space restrictions and partly to simplify registration. Please note that there will no longer be separate classes for ‘Out of Box’ and ‘Detailed’ entries. Some classes have historically attracted few entries and will be deleted or amalgamated.

Furthermore, again due to space restrictions, it has been decided to limit the number of entries any modeller can make. In 2025 no modeller can enter more than FIVE models. Of these, no more than TWO may be dioramas, and dioramas may have a base size no larger than A3.

If, despite these restrictions, the competition tables become full, the Competition Secretary reserves the discretion to close registration earlier than the advertised closing time. Please refer to the Competition section of the website for full details and information on the updated classes, which will be published soon.

Your organising team trusts that all traders, exhibitors and competitors will understand the reasons behind these changes to the show, which have been outwith our control.
